Broads Tourism Forum AGM and Members Meeting

4th March 3.00 pm, Broads Authority Offices, Dragonfly House, Gilders Way, Norwich NR3 1UB,

Dear Member,

You may have noticed from the meeting invite and papers that we sent to you that we are looking to elect officers and members of the Executive for the coming year. I am pleased to let you know that all the Officers and members of the Executive have agreed to stand for a further year, and I am grateful to them for their continued support.

We do have vacancies for another 3 members of the Executive Committee so please do consider whether you would be able to give some of your time, experience and energy to the Broads Tourism Forum. In addition, anybody can stand for the three officer posts, namely Chairman,  Vice Chairman and Treasurer. All that we require is that the individual standing for election must be a member of the Broads Tourism Forum, or work for a member company and be their appointed representative.

The process now is to contact Rachel Evitt if you wish to stand, and ensure that you have a member of the BTF willing to second your nomination. We will only have an election if we have more candidates than places on the executive, or more than one candidate for the posts of Chairman, Vice Chairman and Treasurer.

Notwithstanding the essential business of the AGM, we are looking forward to a lively and informative Members Meeting and sincerely hope that you will be part of the discussions.

Date - Wednesday 14th October 2009

Dear Broads Tourism Forum Member

Our next Members’ meeting takes place at the Museum of the Broads in Staham on 14th October. We have an interesting agenda lined up for you and I do hope you will be able to come.

A highlight of the meeting will be a talk by Simon Middleton, the highly acclaimed Brand Strategy Guru.  Simon will be sharing with us his thoughts on branding for the Broads picking up the branding ideas previously developed by Simon Anholt in his branding strategy.  Branding is of course a key issue for the successful marketing of the Broads and we look forward to hearing from an industry expert on the subject.

There will be a look back on the 2009 season from Tony Howe of the Broads Hire Boat Federation and we will be looking ahead to 2010 with ideas for and discussions about next year’s Enjoy the Broads Campaign.

One of the exciting opportunities that has come up is the chance to have a major Broads presence at the Boat and Caravan Show at the NEC Birmingham from 23 to 28 February 2010.  We will be presenting the proposals for that and we will be interested to hear your views and whether you’d like to take part.

Before the meeting you will have an opportunity to take a tour of the Museum and the museum will also run 10 minute trips on its steam the ‘Falcon’ on a first come, first served basis (max. 10 passengers at a time).  If you haven’t been to the Museum before you are in for a real treat.  Please arrive no later than 3pm - tea and coffee will be available on arrival.

I do hope you will be able to join us for what promises to be a an interesting and enjoyable meeting.
